Ultimate Staffing is seeking an experienced Benefits Coordinator/Specialist - Retirement Plans - for our St Louis, MO client. This role can be remote if you meet all of the qualifications below.

6 MONTHS (PROJECT), then which to temp hire, after 12 months, opportunity to convert to permanent role w/ client.

THIS IS NOT A ROLE FOR INSURANCE BENEFITS ACCOUNT MANAGERS.

Monday- Friday 8-5 pm

Pay $ 22-26 per hour

Seeking an experienced Benefits Coordinator to oversee and administer employer-sponsored retirement and benefits programs. The ideal candidate brings 5-10 years of hands-on experience managing 401(k), 409(k), pension plans, and nondiscrimination testing in corporate or multi-employer settings. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong compliance knowledge and a commitment to accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

* Administer and coordinate all aspects of retirement benefit programs, including 401(k), 409(k), and defined benefit pension plans.

* Conduct and review nondiscrimination and compliance testing to ensure plan integrity and adherence to federal regulations.

* Serve as the primary contact for retirement plan inquiries, audits, and vendor communications.

* Process employee enrollments, changes, distributions, and terminations with confidentiality and precision.

* Collaborate with payroll, finance, and HR teams to ensure accurate benefit contributions and reconciliations.

* Monitor plan performance, prepare reports, and support annual audits and regulatory filings (e.g., Form 5500).

* Stay current on ERISA, IRS, and DOL regulations; recommend updates to maintain compliance.

* Support employee education and communication initiatives related to retirement and benefits programs.

Qualifications

* 3+ years of experience administering retirement plans, including 401(k), 409(k), and pension programs.

* Strong understanding of nondiscrimination testing, plan audits, and compliance reporting.

* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).

* Proficiency with benefits administration systems and Microsoft Excel.

* Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

* Strong analytical and communication skills with a proactive problem-solving approach.

* Ability to manage multiple priorities in a remote or hybrid work environment.

Preferred Skills

* Familiarity with defined contribution and defined benefit plan management tools.

* Experience working with third-party administrators (TPAs), auditors, and investment advisors.

* In-depth knowledge of ERISA, DOL, and IRS regulatory requirements
